My Vision as an Educator
A classroom climate that fosters respect for various viewpoints, individual ownership of learning, and willingness to create individual meaning. Students will engage proactively and the teacher will challenge each student to strive for personal excellence.
Our environment will be conducive to sharing individual perspectives. These perspectives reflect the reality as seen and understood by students and myself. It respects the differences in backgrounds and uses these differences to aid learning.
Students will take individual ownership. This ownership makes them responsible for their own actions and the positive or negative outcomes that follow. Students will respect each other and, more importantly, themselves. A respect for self promotes self-awareness and can lead to behaviors that benefit the student and their relationships with others. Students will be willing to create individual meaning. This enables the student to gain a deeper understanding of the concepts and allows the student to reach high-order thinking. Students will engage proactively. This will help the student to think ahead and begin to perform behaviors that will help them think forwardly.
I will challenge students to strive for personal excellence. This will facilitate a learning environment focused on the individual needs of the student. It requires knowledge of student characteristics and needs. Then, I can help the student understand how to reach individual success and how he or she can contribute to his or her own learning.
